young people and children must be assisted within the first year

The Vou de Canoa Project was created in 2020 by the Escola de Canoa Polinésia Itaipu Surf Hoe (Itaipu Surf Hoe Polynesian Canoe School) and is supported by the Toyota do Brasil Foundation and SGA Toyota. Held at Itaipu Beach, in Niterói (in the State of Rio de Janeiro), the initiative combines education, sports, and culture to bring children and young people closer to the biome where they live and to show them the importance of conserving it.

In addition to the practical aspect of the project, there is also a lot of knowledge that is passed on through an exclusive collection of sand samples from approximately 200 beaches from several regions of the world, a shell collection with more than 50 different species, and a collection of paddles and miniatures of traditional canoes, such as: the Brazilian caiçara, the Polynesian, the Viking from the Nordic countries, and the Canadian.

In total, there are eight hours of theoretical and practical activities that include: exhibitions, lectures, workshops, and the experience of paddling a Polynesian canoe.
